We frequently talk about working with good ergonomic principles and having a work space that really works for you. This is easier said than done, though. We know that. So we thought we'd high light the changes one reader told us about. He is a PhD student, a parish worker, and a father of 2- thus, it's essential that he gets the most efficient use of every device possible. There's simply no time to spare between studies, work, and family time.

- First, he docked and elevated his laptop. You've got to remember this guy does a ton of reading, studying, and writing for hours at a time. Thus, reading and typing from a laptop was not really an option.
- Second, he grabbed an extra mounted monitor and an ergonomic keyboard for even more reading and typing comfort. He chose a Microsoft keyboard with slight curvature.
- Next, our reader added a wrist rest for breaks between typing periods.
- Similarly, our guy upgraded to an ergonomic mouse and even went for a mouse pad with a built-in wrist rest. Pretty cool.
- You'll also notice that our avid reader has not one, but two document holders for all the texts and notes he has to reference.
- Light! This particular office is not very bright, so he added two small lights so he can see, of course, but also so he can avoid eye strain. Note that he did not put the lights right on the monitors- no reason to create glare where it doesn't need to be!
- Not pictured, our reader also takes advantage of a foot rest for comfort since his tiny office is his virtual second home.
When upgrading your work station, note that brands are not nearly as important ergonomic quality. The most important and efficiency-boosting ergonomic upgrades you can make are an
ergonomic keyboard and
ergonomic mouse.

Every year that dreaded day rolls around, the one where countless expectations go unmet and many a relationship wither away...you know it: Valentine's Day. Possibly one of the most ingenious marketing ploys ever created, V-day serves as a reminder that we are expected to romance and woo our significant other while the whole world watches. Even if you are lucky enough to have a girlfriend or husband who really doesn't care about this blessed event, she or he is surrounded by co-workers, if not friends, the very next day, all eager to hear what incredible gift they received or date the enjoyed.
You know what? You don't have to play that game. You're not here to please the masses or your wife's friends. Your job is to show her that you love her. Or, if you're a female, to show him that you love him. There are a variety of ways to do this, none of which has to be embarrassing or exorbitantly expensive. The best gift you can give is that of knowledge- of showing him/her how well you know them and how much you love them.
5 V-Day Gifts You've Never Thought Of
Flowers. I know it's almost a cliche, but if you're just starting off, flowers are a sure bet, especially if you know her faves. An alternative is a different flower every month- you buy 1 flower the 14th of the each month and hand deliver it yourself. The trick here is to not look cheap- make sure you have a card that tells her this is a plan, and not a cop-out.- A massage. Man and woman alike appreciate a good massage. A dark room, total relaxation, and some nature sounds are sure to deliver one of the best gifts ever. Plus, if you buy a half-hour massage or a head massage, you can still give an extravagant gift that has a smaller price tag.
- Recreate your first date as best you can. It's hard not to charm with a good memory and fondness for your shared experience.
- Do something he or she has asked and you've always said no. Maybe it's a chick flick, or a weekend away, or even time friends. Whether it's with you or not (though it is V-day, being together is kind of the point), give your honey what they've always wanted. It may be as simple as fixing the garbage disposal- just do it in love.
- Your guy or gal not the romantic type? Try an ergonomic gift- the practical ones love a useful gift that serves a purpose. Why not warm their hearts and their hands?
The main idea in giving a great Valentine's Day gift is to be thoughtful enough to show your significant other that you love them enough to know exactly what they want, be it a different flower every month or a
practical ergonomic gift. Give the wrong thing and you've sent the wrong message.

Christmas may have come and gone, but it's not too late to give yourself a little something. In fact, why not get what you really wanted for Christmas. Ties and socks are nice, and truly nothing beats a homemade gift from the kids, but none of that keeps you comfortable and injury-free at work and while on the computer at home. The best gift you can give yourself is comfort and the peace of mind that comfort brings.
Gifts You Can Give Yourself {Without Guilt}
Don't feel guilty- we all need a little pampering. Why not do it at work?

Looking for a great Christmas gift for that hard to shop for someone in your life?
Christmas shopping can be stressful, especially when you're not sure what to get for whom. I can typically think of gifts for the women in my family, whether it's jewelry or clothes. It's the guys I usually struggle to come up with ideas for. Even when I do have a great idea, I still have to go out and fight the crowds to obtain that perfect gift, which somehow deflates my holiday spirit. That's why I enjoy shopping online: I can search for great gifts from the comfort and warmth of my own home, even while I'm watching TV! Why not bundle gifts and ask various people go in on them so that each person gets a bigger gift they can really enjoy? Several contribute and the receiver ends up with a gift (s)he is really excited about!
3 Great bigger/bundled gifts for under the tree
- iPad bundle- great accessories for the iPad user who seems to have everything: a mini keyboard, a stand, and a carrying case.
- Let it Snow Bundle- 3 "hot" ergo products for cold offices and therefore fingers: a heated keyboard, a heated mouse, and a heated wrist rest.

- Falalalala Bundle- Freestyle ergonomic keyboard, Rennaissance mouse, and split gel wrist rests.
