Could Your Headaches be from Eye Strain At Work?

Could Your Headaches be from Eye Strain At Work?

How to reduce eye strain at work

Staring at your computer all day often places much strain on your eyes.  The end-of-day headache you’re feeling could be coming from just that: eye strain.  Here are a few suggestions to help you reduce eyestrain and eliminate those headaches.

  1. First check the placement of your monitor.  Placing your monitor too far away or too close is a primary source of eyestrain.  If your monitor is too far away you’ll be straining to see small text, causing eye fatigue.  Place it too close, and your eyes will work harder to focus.
  2. Make sure your monitor is not tilted too far forwards or backwards.  This type of tilting causes objects on the screen to become distorted, thus is causing eyestrain as you attempt to view the objects.
  3. Glare is another contributing factor in eye strain.  Make sure lights or light from windows do not place glare on your monitor.
  4. Finally, don’t stare at your monitor for long periods.  Eye fatigue and dryness can occur.  When you’re looking at your monitor for extended periods you’ll tend not to blink as often, thus causing dryness. Stop and look away from the monitor regularly to avoid these issues.
These are quick and free ways to help your eyes stay moist and comfortable.
