Is Your Hand and Wrist Pain Carpel Tunnel?

Carpel tunnel is a condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist. Identifying the difference between wrist pain and carpal tunnel can be difficult.

Some of the signs and symptoms you may find related to carpal tunnel are a burning sensation, tingling, numbness, or itching in the fingers and hand. The median never controls the feeling in much of your hand.

The general cause of carpal tunnel is repetitive motion of the hands, fingers, and wrist. Often accompanied with carpal tunnel is swelling of the wrist and hands.  If you are not experiencing numbness and tingling, it is not likely you have CTS. If you are unsure you should see, your doctor as other repetitive stress injuries can occur. .

To help avoid CTS you should use items such as wrist rest to give your wrist the extra support they may need and ergonomic keyboards help reduce the stress you place on your hands while typing. In worst-case scenarios, you may need to get a wrist brace to keep you from damaging your wrist and hands any further.
