Is Your Home Office Ergonomic Friendly?

Practicing good ergonomics in your home office can help prevent pain and injuries resulting from repetitive motions and awkward potions as you work.  Choosing the right equipment and setting up your home office for optimum ergonomics can help to prevent strain, pain, and injury as you work.

As you choose your equipment the keyword is adjustability.

  • Chairs, desks, and monitors should all have the ability to be adjusted to accommodate your needs.
  • Proper height of your desk, chairs, and your monitor is crucial for good ergonomics.
  • The chair should have backrest, seat, armrest, and height adjustments.
  • The desk should be height adjustable.
  • Your monitor should have an adjustment for tilt and be sized properly so you can place it twenty inches directly in front of you.
  • As you begin placing your equipment and other accessories on your desk make sure to place frequently used items within close reach.

The goal of good ergonomics in your home office is to maintain your body in a relaxed, neutral position as you work.  Awkward positions and reaching and stretching can cause strain, and pain.
