Shoulder / Upper Back Pain

Shoulder pain and upper back pain are common side effects of stress and Repetitive Strain Injuries.  Here are a few resources to help treat and even avoid it!

Left Handed Keyboards Reduce Neck and Shoulder Pain for Everyone

When you think of using a left-handed keyboard, you probably think, “It won’t help me because I’m not left-handed. A left handed keyboard is more versatile than the name implies.  These keyboards are a great choice for any person regularly using a keyboard. And if you’re constantly having neck and shoulder pain, it’s definitely a good idea to try a left-handed keyboard.

These keyboards have the numeric keypad on the left side rather than the traditional placement.  This allows you to place your mouse closer to your keyboard.  Using a mouse that is too far away is one of the major causes of neck and shoulder pain from keyboarding.

If your mouse is too far away, your neck and shoulders muscles are engaged as you use your mouse and as you simply hold your hand on the mouse.  Constant engagement like this causes stress on the muscles and thus pain. Switching to a left handed keyboard eliminates much of this muscle activity.  When the muscle is not stressed, the aches and pain improves.  Just try it and you could be pleasantly surprised.
